¡Hola a todos!

Swinging on a palm tree!
My name is Tess Dozier and l am 18 years old.  I live in a small town in Wisconsin with my mom, my sister (16), and my brother (15).  I play trumpet and oboe in band and orchestra and I play the guitar for fun.  I have taken a ton of Spanish classes at school and I really enjoy learning more as l talk to people in Spanish.  I am the preschool teacher at a local day care and l absolutely love all my kids and the funny things they say and do!
I have been to Puerto Rico five times, where l stayed with a missionary family from my church.  They have 3 kids around my age and a lot of neighbors my age- we have tons of fun!  When l am in Puerto Rico, l help the family with setting up and cleaning for church, handing out tracts to neighbors and people we meet, playing guitar for church, and kids club on Wednesday nights. Wednesday is my favorite day of the week!  We play games with the kids, have a Bible story, sing songs, memorize a verse together, and have small group devotional time.  I love paying with the kids and I love their openness and interest in the Gospel.  This past year l spent 6 weeks in Puerto Rico and l volunteered in a first grade class at the public elementary school. I really enjoyed playing with the kids and getting to know their families. I was in a class with 32 kids and one teacher- and not one of them knew English, so l learned a TON of Spanish!

After the mission trip with AIM, I am going to stay in Puerto Rico and help my “Puerto Rican family” with various Vacation Bible Schools in the month of July. Then, in August I am going to attend the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras (near San Juan) and major in social work. I am really excited for the opportunities that God has given me for this summer and the upcoming year. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and I pray that we will encourage each other and share God’s love in Puerto Rico!

  1. Hey Tess,
My name is Amanda, I am one of your leaders on this mission trip. Wow I am so happy you know spanish. I know very little and you will be such a blessing to have on this trip. That is awesome you have been to Puerto Rico so many times and that you will get to stay. What an adventure you are living and all for God, which is so wonderful. I am so excited to meet you and go on this tirp with you. Maybe you can help me learn some Spanish. I’ll be talking to you soon!

  2. Tess,
Is that a corn stalk you are hanging from? Anyway, I am excited you are coming with us this summer. You can tell in your words that you have a heart for Puerto Rico, especially the children there. I hope that is contagious and everyone shares the passion you do while we are there. Be praying for our trip and I will be praying for you too.

  3. Tess,
